The abreviation is for remote minicom. The command opens a direct serial (minicom) connection to the Debug port of the VME IOC. A new window will open and here you can use EPICS and VxWorks commands to do diagnosis of your system.

You can connect only to VME IOCs in the same network. Depending on the network you might be asked to enter the slsop password or to give the user name and password of a valid afs user.
